The International Olympic Academy course at Costa Navarino and The Hills are two spectacular courses that joined the line-up at Costa Navarino Resort in 2022. Both courses are designed by the firm led by double Masters Champion Jose Maria Olazabal. Although they both begin and end at the breathtaking Navarino Hills clubhouse the two courses represent their own distinct challenges. The Hills has wider fairways and a couple of par 4's lower handicappers may think they can drive to the green...appearances can be deceptive. The International Olympic Academy is tighter with a few more dog leg difficulties. Both are expertly maintained and the caddy staff helpful and knowledgeable.

Our take
Two courses share the Navarino Hills clubhouse and they are nothing like twins, with The Hills offering width and a dare or two while the Olympic Academy course keeps the fairways honest and narrow.
- Serious golfersPlay both in a day from the one clubhouse and you get two distinct arguments with Olazabal. The Hills dangles a couple of par fours the longer hitters can attack, and the wind up here asks for an extra club more often than you expect.
- Higher handicapsStart on The Hills. Its wider fairways forgive the drive that the Olympic Academy course would punish, and with just three water hazards across the two layouts, lost balls are scarcer than you might fear.
- SocietiesBoth layouts start and finish at the same clubhouse, so a group can run a proper 36 hole day with no transfer in between. The two are different enough that nobody feels they have played the same course twice.

The wind. The wind is usually north-westerly, averaging 12 km/h, gusting to 42. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
