Known affectionately as ''the golf club at the end of the world'', Golf L'Empereur at Genappe is a haven away from the hustle and bustle. Though just 20 kilometres from Brussels, this lovely golf course offers the chance to play some enjoyable golf while savouring the peace and quiet. Easy walking. 8 miles south of Waterloo.

Our take
Nobody comes to L'Empereur for a beating; at par 62 with easy flat walking, it is the gentle, quiet day that a Waterloo golf week is better for having.
- Higher handicapsA genuine confidence builder. A short par, flat easy walking and nothing forced on you, though eight water hazards still ask you to think before you swing.
- CouplesTwenty kilometres from Brussels yet it feels like the end of the world, which is rather the point. A quiet round, lunch in the clubhouse restaurant and no pressure on anybody's golf.
- SocietiesUse it as the recovery day between Bercuit and Hainaut. Twenty-seven holes keep a big group moving, the walking costs nothing, and slower players will not hold the field up here.
- Serious golfersAt par 62 it will not stretch a low handicap. Treat it as a loosener or an evening extra and keep the serious scoring for Bercuit and Rigenee.
