Dalmahoy is a country estate, and evenings here feel like it. A couple of restaurants sit within walking distance, and the village of Ratho is just over two kilometres away, with Ratho Marina a pleasant spot for a stroll before dinner. A short taxi opens up a dozen restaurants, fifteen bars and plenty of cafes, plus Malleny Garden and the Heriot Watt Museum, both about three kilometres out. Worth knowing: you'll want a taxi into Ratho rather than walking, and the estate goes quiet after dinner. Edinburgh is close for a bigger night.
