If you are going to play golf, there's nothing better than playing in the sunshine so my wife and I had an item on our bucket list to take a month driving around the Iberian peninsula playing golf, staying at good hotels and eating well! …
We recently used Golf planet Holidays for our annual golf trip to Spain, I can honestly say that the service provided was second to none, an absolutely first class experience.. well done the team at Golf planet holidays..
About Canyamel Golf Club
Set in gorgeous unspoilt Mallorcan countryside, Canyamel golf course is a joy to play.
The front nine winds up into hilly countryside with the green on the fourth hole appearing to teeter on the edge of a cliff with brilliant blue waters beyond. The back nine is flatter with multi-tiered and well-defended greens. A lovely and popular course. On a clear day you can even see the island of Menorca. On the eastern coast of Mallorca, near Capdepera.
Two courses in one, really: Canyamel climbs into the hills on the way out, then comes home on flatter ground where the tiered greens do the defending.
Serious golfersWater turns up sixteen times over the round and the back nine greens sit in tiers, so a good score gets built on the homeward half. The 4th and the 15th are where it usually goes wrong.
Higher handicapsThe front nine climbs, roughly 160 metres of it over the round, so consider a buggy if walking uphill is not your idea of a holiday. The cliff edge green at the 4th is worth the effort.
CouplesThe scenery here is a real draw, with clear-day views to Menorca from the high ground, and the pace suits a relaxed round together.
Tell us who’s coming and how you like to play, and we’ll shape the right trip around you.
The walk. Moderate. 161 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually north-easterly, averaging 9 km/h, gusting to 36. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 16 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. José 'Pepe' Gancedo.
The holes that will cost you. The 15th, the 4th and the 17th. The 7th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
