Booking a golf trip on your own should be simple, and in the Eastern Algarve it is. This is the quiet corner of the region, east of Faro toward Tavira and the Spanish border, where the fairways are uncrowded and a solo golfer never feels like an awkward extra. Benamor Golf at Tavira is the charming, rolling local favourite — orange groves, sea glimpses, and a layout that flatters and tests in equal measure. Quinta da Ria & Cima give you two contrasting courses on one estate, one threading through umbrella pines and lakes toward the Ria Formosa lagoon, the other rolling more openly inland. Castro Marim and Quinta do Vale, closer to the Spanish frontier, round out a genuinely varied week of golf — wide, walkable, and big on far-reaching views.
And then Monte Rei. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, immaculately conditioned, and run like a private club, it is the round you build the trip around. Tell us your budget and we will find the option — including some that minimise or avoid a single supplement — that works best for a solo traveller. Will I have to play every round on my own?
Not necessarily, and the choice is part of the appeal. Most Eastern Algarve courses will pair a single golfer with others on the day to keep the tee sheet moving, so you often end up in a friendly group; on quieter mornings you may get a round to yourself. It is the course’s decision on the day rather than something we arrange, but singles are common here and the welcome is relaxed.
