About Quinta do Vale
Quinta do Vale is a Seve Ballesteros design which has matured into a challenging golf on the Eastern Algarve. Ideal to play while staying at Monte Rei, Quinta do Vale merges beautifully into the natural landscape. Running through a valley, the 18 holes make full use of the undulating terrain with stunning views over the Guadiana River. There are several dogleg holes, wide fairways and obstacles throughout.

Our take
Seve Ballesteros threaded this one along a valley above the Guadiana River, and his fingerprints show in doglegs that beg you to cut corners.
- Serious golfersThe wide fairways are a bluff. With water in play throughout and doglegs shaping most tee shots, scoring comes from picking the right line rather than length. A clever companion round to Monte Rei.
- Higher handicapsYou get room off the tee, which helps, but the water is relentless and short of the green is often the only safe miss. A testing day for anything above an 18 handicap.
- Buddy tripsStaying at Monte Rei, this is the natural second round of the trip, and plenty of groups come off it arguing it gave them the better day's golf.

The walk. Flat, and an easy walk.
The wind. The wind is usually north-westerly, averaging 13 km/h, gusting to 42. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. Water is very much in play across this course. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
