No corner of Europe gives you a fuller golf week than the Algarve. More than 30 championship courses sit within an hour of Faro airport, the sun holds from March to November, and a week here costs a fraction of the American equivalent. Here is how we would spend seven days.

The day-by-day
- Day 1. Arrive. Land at Faro, transfer 25 to 40 minutes, settle in, dinner by the marina.
- Day 2. Vale do Lobo (Royal). The clifftop par 3 over the ravine on 16 is the most photographed hole in Portugal. Book this one first.
- Day 3. Pinhal, Vilamoura. Umbrella pines and generous fairways, gentle enough while the legs find their rhythm.

- Day 6. Penina Championship. A Henry Cotton design and former Portuguese Open host. Flat, no postcard contender, and a 40-minute drive from Vilamoura, but the tree-lined golf is proper.
- Day 7. Depart. Morning round or beach, then home.
