About St Francis Links
St Francis Links is a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. Rated fifth in South Africa, it's a challenging course, set next to the Ocean in a natural environment. The course starts out strongly with its Signature Par 4 hole and just gets better and better. It's all about position and, as you'd expect with a great links course, the wind is an important factor. Whatever hole, be very happy with a par. If you manage any birdies, be proud!

Our take
Rated fifth in South Africa, St Francis Links is dead flat underfoot and anything but flat on the card, because the wind off the bay never really rests.
- Serious golfersNicklaus built a genuine links here and the wind is the whole defence. Flight the ball, take an extra club into the breeze, and treat every par as money in the bank.
- Higher handicapsFlat underfoot so the walking is easy, but be realistic on the card. The wind gets up most days, and a 24 handicapper playing for bogeys will enjoy it far more than one chasing pars.
- Buddy tripsThe round your group will still be arguing about at dinner. Nobody escapes the wind here, not even your low man, which makes the bragging rights honestly earned.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk.
The wind. The wind is usually westerly, averaging 17 km/h, gusting to 62. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 3 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Jack Nicklaus.
