About Salobre Golf Club, New and Old courses
Salobre New and Old courses provide excellent tests of every aspect of your golf game. At the end of your winter sun holiday you should be in fine fettle for the golf season ahead.
With its raised location on Gran Canaria, the golf club offers spectacular views of the five-star Salobre resort and the surrounding mountains. The New and the Old courses are designed as contrasting layouts but both require precision golf.
The courses are dominated by cactus and dark volcanic soil and are renowned for lightning fast greens and strategically placed water hazards.
Buggies are compulsory on the New course. Stay at the on-site Salobre Hotel to enjoy this resort to the hilt.

Our take
Two contrasting courses share a raised perch above the Salobre resort, cacti standing in for trees, and both want precise golf rather than brave golf.
- Serious golfersTwo genuinely different layouts on one site, both demanding precise golf, and with the air usually still up here you get no excuses when the cacti swallow another ball.
- Higher handicapsThe cacti punish anything wild, so bring plenty of balls, but water only appears in a handful of places and, despite the mountain setting, the walking is gentle with barely any climb in the round.
- CouplesWith the five-star resort in view from the course and the mountains behind it, this is winter sun golf you can build a proper stay around rather than a day trip.

The wind. The wind is usually southerly, averaging 10 km/h, gusting to 42. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 7 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
