About Golf Torrequebrada
Golf Torrequebrada is just one of the attractive golf courses near Malaga which can easily be passed by as you drive down through Costa del Sol to Marbella or beyond. Golf Torrequebrada opened in 1976 and has matured into a challenging 18 hole golf course, blending plenty of tree and water hazards to create a good test of your game. With the sea on one side and mountains on the other this is a gorgeous venue if you are staying in nearby Fuengirola.

Our take
There is no gentle handshake at Torrequebrada: the hardest hole on the card is the 1st, and this mature Pepe Gancedo design keeps the trees and water coming after it.
- Buddy tripsIf you are based around Fuengirola you are minutes away, and most groups drive straight past on the road to Marbella; stop, but warm up properly, because the toughest hole comes first.
- Higher handicapsPlenty of trees and water to find and nearly 200 metres of climb to grind up, so book a buggy, aim for the middle of everything and settle for bogey at the 1st and 14th.
- SocietiesA mature, good-looking day out between the sea and the mountains that suits a mixed-ability society, provided the organiser warns everyone that the opening hole is the hardest on the course.

The walk. Hilly — we would take a buggy. 197 metres of climb over eighteen holes.
The wind. The wind is usually north-westerly, averaging 8 km/h. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 14 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
