About Fancourt Outeniqua
Fancourt has three excellent golf courses, Outeniqua, Montagu and The Links, all designed by Gary Player.
Outeniqua golf course is an 18-hole parkland layout to set you up for an enjoyable round of golf. The course provides for easier game play than its counterpart, the Montagu. But it still has its fair share of challenges and water hazards . Designed by Gary Player and named after the mountain range that forms its breathtaking backdrop, the course is always in pristine condition.
Montagu is a tougher option and a wonderful round of golf. This tree-lined parkland course covers large tracts of varying terrain on rolling land.
The Links, regularly rated the best course in South Africa, is a private club but there are limited tee times available to Fancourt Hotel and Manor House Guests who meet minimum reservation requirements.

Our take
Three Gary Player courses on one estate give Fancourt more golf than most trips can use, from the gentler Outeniqua up to the sterner Montagu.
- Serious golfersMontagu is the one to test yourself on, with Outeniqua as the warm-up and The Links to complete the set. Water threads through the estate, so straight matters more than long here.
- Higher handicapsStart on Outeniqua. It is the kindest of the three, though the water still bites and the 4th and 5th tend to ruin more cards than anything on the back nine. Flat walking throughout helps.
- Buddy tripsThree courses without moving the car makes Fancourt the obvious base for a multi-round stay. Rotate through all three, settle the arguments on Montagu, and nobody wastes a morning on transfers.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 7 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually westerly, averaging 10 km/h, gusting to 35. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. Water is very much in play across this course. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
