About Benamor Golf Club
Benamor is a delightful par 71 golf course of 6,100 yards. Near Tavira, it offers a pleasant playing experience to players of all standards. The course is undulating but not hilly. The views of the mountains to the North and the Atlantic Ocean to the South are stunning. The indigenous olive, cork, carob, fig and almond trees, many centuries old, feature aesthetically and in playing terms. Water hazards and sand bunkers are placed to test the strategy and striking ability of every player.

Our take
At 6,100 yards Benamor is short by modern standards, and all the better for it, an easy walking Henry Cotton design with mountains to the north and the Atlantic to the south.
- Higher handicapsBarely a metre of climb over the whole round and a par 71 that lets you score. Get past the opening hole, comfortably the hardest on the course, and the card looks after itself.
- SocietiesA sensible first or last round of a Tavira trip. All standards get round in decent time, the centuries old olive and carob trees frame every hole, and nobody comes off exhausted.
- CouplesGentle enough for two players of very different standards to enjoy together, with sea views to the south and hardly any waiting about on a short, friendly course.

The wind. The wind is usually northerly, averaging 13 km/h, gusting to 47. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
