About Atalaya Golf & Country Club
Atalaya Golf and Country Club is one of the original stars of the Costa del Sol golf scene. Opened in 1968 The Old Course has matured gracefully. The wide fairways are lined with trees and flowering shrubs, often leading to elevated greens. The clever contouring requires your full attention. The Old Course is an easy walking course giving you plenty of time to savour the presentation.

Our take
Atalaya has been easing golfers into the Costa del Sol since 1968, and its two mature parkland courses still add up to one of the gentlest 36-hole days on the coast.
- Higher handicapsThe Old Course is about as kind an opener as the Costa del Sol offers: wide fairways, no water to speak of, next to no wind most mornings. If you are going to play to your handicap in Spain, it may be here.
- SocietiesTwo full courses on one site means a 36-hole day without a second transfer, and the walking is flat enough that nobody ducks out of the afternoon round.
- Serious golfersNo one gets beaten up off the tee here; the examination is on and around the raised greens, where clever contouring exposes a lazy approach. Better players should treat the Old Course as a scoring chance.
