• SocietiesTwo full courses on one site means a 36-hole day without a second transfer, and the walking is flat enough that nobody ducks out of the afternoon round.
• Serious golfersNo one gets beaten up off the tee here; the examination is on and around the raised greens, where clever contouring exposes a lazy approach. Better players should treat the Old Course as a scoring chance.
