The home of Michelin and Gault Millau, France has been judging its restaurants for well over a century. For our golf & gastronomy holidays, we mix the starred restaurants with the wonderfully-French brasseries. For example, for the Fontainebleau area we suggest Le Bistrot du Broc in Bourron Marlotte, l’Axel in Fontainebleau and Le Bas Breau in Barbizon. For Northern France, we’d recommend La Liegoise in Wimereux, Le Chateau Montreuil in Montreuil-sur-Mer and Le Jardin in Le Touquet – in other words, a delicious mix of formal and relaxed, of hearty fare and refined service.
Many of the hotels we work with have superb restaurants. In fact, some of them are more “restaurants with rooms” or started life as a restaurant and developed into a destination. Auberge aux Loups in Apremont is a great example of a restaurant with rooms, Golf de la Bresse near Beaujolais in the Rhone Alps is a lovely golf course with an even better restaurant and there’s nothing quite like lunch on the terrace at Chateau des Vigiers in Dordogne or Chateau d’Augerville in Around Paris whilst overlooking their 18th greens – both of which are near surrounded by water to help add to the drama!
Where ever you holiday in France you are guaranteed that, not too far away, you can drink and dine at the highest level in authentic surroundings. We can recommend and reserve restaurants for our clients so just let us know the occasion, the preferred style and budget and we’ll propose the perfect place and/or a whole series of eateries if you’re looking for a week-long gourmet treat.
