Winter golf among a hundred thousand palms, the Atlas on the skyline.

Morocco golf holidays

The Palmeraie courses thread through date palms on a Robert Trent Jones layout, with the snow-capped Atlas behind every tee, and the Pickalbatros Hotel du Golf sits right on the turf. Thirteen courses within reach, then mint tea in the medina once the cards are signed.

Morocco is the rare golf destination that delivers desert drama, Atlantic light and a winter that feels like an English June. Within a short drive of Marrakech you can play links-influenced fairways framed by the snow-dusted Atlas, while down on the coast Agadir trades mountains for surf and citrus groves. It is a country of contrasts — riads and ramparts in the medina, then a clean, modern golf scene that has matured into one of the Mediterranean rim's most rewarding winter-sun choices. The courses are characterful, the resorts polished, and the welcome genuinely warm.

Every itinerary is hand-built and hand-priced around your dates, your group and the courses you want to play.

Why play golf in Morocco

  • A genuine winter-sun golf country: warm, dry and playable right through our November–March off-season
  • Two distinct bases — Marrakech for desert-and-Atlas drama, Agadir for Atlantic-coast ease
  • A cluster of strong Marrakech courses within easy reach of one another, from Assoufid Golf Club to Al Maaden Golf Club and The Montgomerie Marrakech
  • Polished resort hotels paired with the courses, so golf and stay sit together
  • Short transfers, English widely spoken on course, and a culture of real hospitality
  • We hand-pick the combinations that work and hand-price every trip around your group

The courses you’ll play

Marrakech is the heart of it. Assoufid Golf Club is the modern standout — a wild, dune-and-desert layout set against the Atlas, while Al Maaden Golf Club weaves contemporary sculpture and water through a parkland-desert hybrid. The Montgomerie Marrakech brings a designer's name and tournament polish, and Royal Palm Golf Course and Amelkis Golf Club round out the city's pedigree. For variety, Samanah Country Club and Noria Golf Club sit a little further out, and PalmGolf Marrakech Ourika Golf Club runs through olive groves and palms.

On the coast, Golf du Soleil and Golf Tazegzout anchor Agadir, while Mazagan Golf Course near Casablanca is a proper seaside test on the Atlantic.

Where you’ll stay

In Marrakech the choice runs from the landmark Fairmont Royal Palm and the elegant Hotel & Ryads Barrière Le Naoura to the dependable Mövenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi, Kenzi Menara Palace, Iberostar Waves Club Palmeraie and the golf-side Pickalbatros Hotel du Golf Marrakech Palmeraie, set in the Palmeraie's calm of palms and pools.

On the coast, Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay and Tikida Golf Palace put you close to Agadir's fairways and beaches, while Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort near Casablanca pairs an oceanfront resort with golf on the doorstep. We match the hotel to the courses you want and the pace you have in mind.

Best time to play golf in Morocco

Morocco's golf coast is a true winter-sun destination. Through our off-season — roughly November to March — Marrakech and Agadir stay warm, dry and very comfortable for golf, which is exactly why it draws players escaping the British winter. Days are bright, the light is superb, and the Atlas often carries snow on the peaks while you play in shirtsleeves below.

Spring (April–May) and autumn (October) are glorious shoulder seasons with reliable warmth. High summer (July–August) turns genuinely hot inland around Marrakech — playable with early tee times, but the coast at Agadir, cooled by Atlantic breezes, holds up far better. For most golfers, the winter and shoulder months are the sweet spot.

A sense of Morocco

History & heritage

Marrakech is a thousand-year-old imperial city, and it shows: the Koutoubia minaret, the labyrinth of the medina, the storytellers and snake-charmers of Jemaa el-Fnaa at dusk. Behind plain walls hide riads of carved cedar, zellij tilework and orange-tree courtyards — the craft tradition that gives Morocco its texture. The country sits at a cultural crossroads of Berber, Arab and Andalusian influence, with French widely spoken alongside Arabic and Tamazight. A round in the morning leaves the whole afternoon for the souks, the Majorelle gardens or simply mint tea on a rooftop as the call to prayer drifts across the rooftops.

Food & wine

Moroccan food is one of the great cuisines: slow-cooked tagines of lamb and apricot, fluffy couscous on Fridays, harira soup, and pastilla — that sweet-savoury pastry of pigeon or chicken dusted with cinnamon and sugar. Street grills and freshly squeezed orange juice fill the Marrakech squares, while the Atlantic coast at Agadir brings superb grilled fish and seafood straight off the boats. Mint tea, poured high and sweet, is the ritual that punctuates every day. Morocco does produce wine — the Meknès region is the centre of it — and resort hotels and licensed restaurants serve it readily, though it remains a Muslim country and alcohol is found in those settings rather than everywhere.

Beyond the fairways

Marrakech alone could fill a non-golf week: the Majorelle and Secret gardens, the Bahia Palace, hammam and spa rituals, and the endless theatre of the souks. For bigger horizons, the Atlas Mountains rise within an hour — Berber villages, the Ourika Valley and waterfalls make an easy day trip, with the desert and dunes beyond for the more adventurous. On the coast, Agadir and Taghazout are surf-and-beach country, relaxed and sunny, with long Atlantic strands. Whether your group wants culture, mountains, sea or simply a poolside afternoon between rounds, there is plenty to build a trip around.

Getting around & exploring

Morocco's golf hubs are compact and transfers are short, so private drivers do most of the work — we arrange them so nobody loses a morning to logistics. In Marrakech the leading courses sit within a short drive of the Palmeraie and city hotels, making a multi-course week straightforward. Agadir's courses cluster along the coast around Taghazout Bay. If you want to combine bases — say a few days in Marrakech and a few in Agadir — the two are linked by good road, around three hours apart, and we'll set up the transfers between them. Taxis are plentiful in the cities, but for golf days a pre-arranged car is by far the smoothest way to play.

Getting there

Morocco is an easy reach from the UK and Europe. Marrakech (RAK) is the main gateway for the city and its courses, with Agadir (AGA) serving the coast and Casablanca (CMN) handy for Mazagan. Flight times from the UK are roughly three and a half to four hours.

Flights are not included in our packages — Golf Planet Holidays is ground-only — but we can arrange them for you as a separate, fully ATOL-protected add-on, or you're welcome to book your own. Either way we coordinate your airport transfers, hotels, tee times and the rest of the trip around your chosen flights.

Good to know

  • Ground-only: our packages cover hotels, transfers and golf; flights are a separate ATOL-protected add-on we can arrange, or book your own
  • Currency: the Moroccan dirham (MAD); cards are widely accepted in hotels and on course, cash useful in the souks
  • Climate: warm winter-sun destination — peak comfort November–May; high summer is hot inland, cooler on the Agadir coast
  • Language: Arabic and Tamazight, with French widely spoken and English common on the golf courses
  • Visas: UK and most EU passport-holders do not need a visa for short tourist stays — always check current requirements before you travel
  • Etiquette: a Muslim country with relaxed resort tourism; modest dress in the medina is appreciated, and alcohol is served in hotels and licensed venues
  • Trade protection: Golf Planet Holidays holds ATOL (flights only), PTS and IATA accreditation
  • How we work: we hand-pick the courses and hotels, then hand-build and hand-price every itinerary around your dates and group

Frequently asked questions

Golf holidays in Morocco — answers to the questions our golfers ask most.

Where should I go in Morocco? Agadir or Marrakech?

Marrakech is a great option if you want to explore the Arabic culture of this colourful city. Agadir has wonderful beaches and is the warmer of the two in winter. They are only three hours apart so if you want to explore both destinations in one trip, just let us know.

Do I need a hirecar in Morocco?

A hire car is not essential for most Morocco golf holidays. In Marrakech, all our packages include transfers between Marrakech Menara Airport and your hotel, and private transfers to golf courses. The main courses — Amelkis, Samanah and The Royal Golf Club — are all accessed via arranged transfers. Agadir's golf courses are similarly accessible without your own vehicle. If you want to explore Morocco more independently — visiting the Atlas Mountains, souks or coastal towns — a hire car gives you much more freedom.

Is Morocco good for golf groups?

With a private driver for your duration of your holiday, Morocco is a great destination to enjoy with your golfing friends.

How many golf courses are there in Morocco?

There are more than 20 golf courses in Morocco from the historic Royal Marrakech to the extravagant recent designer courses.  Caddies and buggies are readily available.

Is it safe in Morocco?

Morocco is generally very safe for tourists and is one of the most visited countries in Africa. Golf resorts in Marrakech and Agadir are luxury, well-secured properties where guests experience no safety concerns. Exercise normal awareness in busy medina (market) areas as you would in any city, but the vast majority of visitors have entirely trouble-free trips. The UK Foreign Office advises normal precautions. Golf Planet Holidays has been sending clients to Morocco for many years and the destination has an excellent track record.

Are flights included?

Our golf holidays are arranged ground-only — hotel, golf and transfers. You can add flights through us, and those flights are ATOL protected as part of your booking.
