About San Domenico Golf Club
The emerald fairways of San Domenico golf course are a sight to behold. It's a beautiful golf course with magnificent views over the Adriatic Sea from every corner.
Despite its seaside location, it has an inland links feel with some desert style holes. Sea breezes are ever present, to either boost or hinder your game. Designed by Andy Haggar, the course blends into the Puglian landscape with olive trees and aromatic herb plants dotting the course. With undulating fairways and strategic bunkers San Domenico has deservedly hosted the Grand Final of the European Challenge Tour eight times.
The course is rarely busy so it’s the perfect year-round golf holiday destination.

Our take
Flat underfoot but rarely calm, San Domenico plays like a links with the Adriatic breeze doing most of the defending.
- Serious golfersThe sea breeze is the true defence here, so learn to flight the ball early. Water turns up more than a dozen times around the course, and the inland links bounces punish anything loose.
- Higher handicapsIt is a completely flat walk, which helps, but pack extra balls. The wind never really drops and water crops up all over the course, so a 24 handicapper will earn every point.
- CouplesAdriatic views from every corner, olive trees and herbs lining the way, and no hills to slog up. One of the prettiest settings in Puglia for a shared round.

What you are actually facing
The wind. The wind is usually north-westerly, averaging 15 km/h, gusting to 50. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 13 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. European Golf Design.
