About Royal Golf La Bagnaia
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and set within 130 hectares of rolling Sienese hills, Royal Golf La Bagnaia is a par-71 championship course stretching 6,101 metres through the Tuscan countryside minutes from Siena. The routing weaves through woodland, olive groves, and around a scenic lake, with panoramic views of the surrounding mediaeval landscape at almost every turn. Water comes into play on several holes, adding strategic complexity to Jones's typically dramatic green complexes and sculpted bunkering. The course was voted Italy's Best Golf Course 2023 at the World Golf Awards.
Our take
Royal Golf La Bagnaia rolls through olive groves and woodland a few minutes from Siena, and the walking is far gentler than 130 hectares of Sienese hills would suggest.
- CouplesGolf in the morning and mediaeval Siena in the afternoon; the lake, the olive groves and the countryside views give the round a properly Tuscan feel, and nobody finishes the walk worn out.
- Serious golfersWater comes into play on several holes and Trent Jones Jr makes you think off the tee, but in the still Tuscan air the 6,101 metres play their honest length.
- Non-golfersOne of the easier courses to sell to a non-playing partner: Siena is minutes away, and the resort setting means there is more to the day than watching you putt.
