We recently used Golf planet Holidays for our annual golf trip to Spain, I can honestly say that the service provided was second to none, an absolutely first class experience.. well done the team at Golf planet holidays..
About Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf
Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf is a very traditional Spanish golf club, not far from Malaga, at the start of the Costa del Sol. Ideal for first and last day's of short golf breaks, it is tucked away behind the city, with the front nine holes in a parkland layout and water hazards after the turn. Each green presents its own challenges with some elevated to add to the test. The original 1987 design was updated by Miguel Angel Jimenez in 2007 and Guadalhorce truly deserves its elevation to Real, or Roual, Club de Golf in 21017. The only drawback is the sounds from nearby Malaga Airport but you soon forget those and relax into your very enjoyable day.
- Ideal walking course
- Buggies and trolleys available
- Traditional clubhouse
- Excellent halfway house
- Secure parking
- Close to Malaga
Our take
Book Guadalhorce for arrival or departure day: a traditional Spanish club tucked behind Malaga, flat, honest and quick to reach.
- Buddy tripsPlay it the day you land or the day you fly home. Tucked just behind Malaga, it turns a travel day into a golf day, and the flat walk suits legs that have been on a plane.
- Higher handicapsThe front nine is gentle parkland with hardly any breeze to fight, so make your score early; water arrives after the turn and the raised greens punish a thin pitch.
- Serious golfersMiguel Angel Jimenez reworked the layout in 2007 and it shows around the greens; every green sets its own question, and holding the raised surfaces asks for real iron play.

What you are actually facing
The wind. The wind is usually north-westerly, averaging 8 km/h. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 5 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Kosti Kuronen (original); redesigned by Miguel Ángel Jiménez.
