About Almenara Golf Club
Almenara Golf course offers three loops of nine. Created by Dave Thomas it’s a true gem and is always immaculate. There is also a state-of-the-art Golf Academy where you can tone up your skills There’s a good mix of hazards with just the right number of tough holes and easier ones so you know you've been challenged, but should still return a good score. This is very good target-golf with some atractive parkland holes for good measure.

Our take
Three loops of nine give Almenara its flexibility, and Dave Thomas balanced them well: proper target golf with enough easier holes that a good score stays on.
- SocietiesThree nines let a big group rotate combinations all week without the golf repeating itself, and the honest mix of hard and easier holes keeps every handicap in the game. Always immaculate, too.
- Higher handicapsTarget golf punishes the wild swing but the breather holes are real and there is not much water about. Fair warning: the 1st and the 8th are the two hardest holes here, so no gentle warm-up on the opening tee.
- Buddy tripsA proper academy on site for a morning's tune-up, with Sotogrande's bigger names on the same doorstep. It climbs the best part of 170 metres over a round, which makes buggies the sensible call in the warm months.
