About Ladybank Golf Club
A challenging design of pine-trees, heather and gorse. Ladybank is good enough to be used as a Qualifying Course for The Open on seven occasions since 1978. It demands accuracy, length and guile.
The staff are very welcoming and there's a great golf shop to pick up some mementos of your day.
Ladybank is in the golf mecca of Fife, encompassing three other great courses in Scotscraig, Crail and Lundin Links, all within a few miles of each other and providing a great base for a golfing break.
- Great golf shop
- Buggies - Reservation only
- Trolleys - Power and manual available.
- Caddies available
- Clubhouse - restaurant and bar open to visitors.
Our take
Open qualifying has come to Ladybank seven times since 1978, which tells you how seriously to take this heathland of pine, heather and gorse.
- Serious golfersThe inland test on a Fife itinerary. It demands length, accuracy and guile in roughly equal measure, and the 2nd and the 7th are usually where the round is decided. The pines calm a windy day considerably.
- Higher handicapsHeather and gorse are greedy, so the wayward will donate a few balls. The walk is a gentle one with only the odd rise, the staff are genuinely welcoming and the golf shop is a good one for consolation.
- Buddy tripsUseful insurance on a links week, because when the coast blows out Ladybank sits calmer among its trees. Scotscraig, Crail and Lundin Links are all within a few miles, so the whole group stays busy for days.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 68 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually south-westerly, averaging 13 km/h, gusting to 51. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 6 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Old Tom Morris.
The holes that will cost you. The 7th, the 2nd and the 13th. The 2nd is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
