Our take
You come to La Rocca for the quiet and stay for the golf, a technical Marco Croze layout in the oak and acacia woods on the hills above Parma.
- Serious golfersTechnical is the right word, position golf through wooded corridors with small lakes waiting four times on the card. Barely a breath of wind up here, so the course itself is the whole examination.
- CouplesA very quiet corner of Emilia Romagna, flat and easy underfoot, with Parma ham country all around and local delicacies in the clubhouse at lunch.
- Solo golfersModerately difficult without being punishing, and the sort of peaceful spot where a single golfer can get round at their own pace and eat well afterwards.

What you are actually facing
The wind. The wind is usually south-westerly, averaging 6 km/h. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 4 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Marco Croze.
