La Reserva is the modern face of Sotogrande: Cabell Robinson kept the fairways generous, threaded water through most of the round, and left the 11th and 17th to settle the matches.
- Serious golfersCondition is excellent and the challenge genuine: water in play throughout, a steady sea breeze, and the 11th and 17th where good scores usually unravel.
- Higher handicapsWide fairways keep you playing, but the water finds anything loose and there is a fair bit of up and down over the round, so take the buggy in summer and enjoy it.
- CouplesThe quieter western end of the Costa del Sol suits a pair who want a slow breakfast, golf on the doorstep and none of the resort-strip noise. Three nights and two rounds is the classic stay.
