4.997 reviewsIf you are going to play golf, there's nothing better than playing in the sunshine so my wife and I had an item on our bucket list to take a month driving around the Iberian peninsula playing golf, staying at good hotels and eating well! …
We recently used Golf planet Holidays for our annual golf trip to Spain, I can honestly say that the service provided was second to none, an absolutely first class experience.. well done the team at Golf planet holidays..
About El Rompido Golf
El Rompido has two excellent golf courses at the club. They are both less than 20 years old but have matured well. It's a great destination for small groups who want to concentrate on conquering the golf course and have some fun.
Opened in June 2006, the North course is a monument to modern golf, intelligent and entertaining. Modern because it combines power with precision; intelligent because it makes you think about your strokes; and entertaining because its medium-sized greens will test both the most skilled player and those with higher handicaps.
The South course is three years older. It runs alongside the clubhouse and is divided into two sections with very different characteristics, both in terms of technique and the landscape. The pine forest alternates with olive trees and wetlands, requiring golfers to use strategy and precision in their strokes. The spacious greens are known to be among the fastest in Andalucia.

Our take
El Rompido suits a small group that has come to play golf properly, with two nicely matured courses and water waiting to punish the careless.
- Buddy tripsMade for a small group that wants to get stuck into the golf: two matured courses at one club, an easy flat walk between shots, and enough water about to keep the match interesting.
- Serious golfersThe North is the thinking golfer's course, mixing power with precision and asking a question on nearly every tee. Cards tend to come unstuck early here, at the 5th and again at the 8th.
- Higher handicapsWater is the main thing to respect and it turns up often, but the ground itself is kind, barely 75 metres of climb in a round, so nobody needs a buggy.
Tell us who’s coming and how you like to play, and we’ll shape the right trip around you.
What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 75 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually south-westerly, averaging 12 km/h, gusting to 38. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 21 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Álvaro Arana.
The holes that will cost you. The 8th, the 5th and the 14th. The 14th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
