The Anahita Golf Course is an Ernie Els-designed championship layout on the east coast of Mauritius, part of The Bay Club at Anahita estate (formerly Anahita Golf & Spa Resort, now under Sunlife). Opened in 2008 to USGA standards, the 18-hole par 72 course runs along the lagoon at Beau Champ with six teeing options.
Four signature holes shape the round: the par-5 4th (Ocean Drive, 500m, lagoon-edge); the par-4 10th (Coconut Grove, elevated green); the par-3 17th (Turquoise Lagoon, 144m, view across to Île aux Cerfs); and the par-5 18th (Sugar Estate Ruins, 500m).
Resident guests at The Bay Club at Anahita play unlimited rounds on the Ernie Els course and have included rounds at Bernhard Langer's Île aux Cerfs Golf Club opposite, accessed by the complimentary 24-seater shuttle from Pointe Maurice jetty (boat transfer bundled in the green fee).

Our take
Ernie Els routed Anahita along the Beau Champ lagoon and the water never really leaves you alone.
- Serious golfersThe wind off the lagoon blows at close to 15 kilometres an hour on an ordinary day and it exposes any weakness in your ball flight. Cards tend to die at the 2nd and again at the 11th.
- Higher handicapsSix tee options and easy, flat walking, barely 40 metres of climb all day. But water waits on most holes, so pack more balls than pride and aim for the middle of the greens.
- CouplesOcean Drive, the lagoon edge par 5 4th, is the photograph you will keep. The east coast estate setting makes this an easy course to share even at very different standards.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 40 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually south-easterly, averaging 15 km/h, gusting to 35. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
