CYPRUS' ONLY PGA NATIONAL COURSE

The 130-metre carry that splits Cyprus in two.

Paphos golf holidays

At Aphrodite Hills, Cabell Robinson's PGA National Cyprus runs across two plateaus, with the seventh tee shot flying a deep gorge before you walk down to the sea and the Annabelle's terrace in Paphos harbour. Cyprus's only PGA National, and the warm side of a winter's golf.

Paphos sits where the Troodos foothills tip down to the sea on Cyprus's south-west coast, and it has quietly become the island's golf capital. Within a short drive of the old harbour you have a tight cluster of genuinely good courses, mild Mediterranean weather and a coastline steeped in myth, this is the corner of the island where Aphrodite is said to have risen from the waves. It is an easy place to build a trip around: warm, walkable, unhurried, and well stocked with the kind of resort that lets you play in the morning and relax properly in the afternoon.

What makes Paphos work is the contrast between its courses. A hillside layout one day, a clifftop par three over the Med the next. We hand-pick the combination that suits how your group plays.

We have arranged Cyprus golf since 1981. Every itinerary is hand-built and hand-priced around your dates, your group and the courses you want to play.

Why play golf in Paphos

  • Five courses within reach of one base — Aphrodite Hills, Minthis, Elea Estate, Secret Valley and Limassol Greens give real variety without long transfers.
  • Designs with pedigree — clifftop signature holes, mountain-plateau fairways and parkland-style estate golf, each course feels distinct.
  • A long, kind season — spring and autumn are superb, summers warm, and even the quieter winter stays playable.
  • Golf built into the resorts — Aphrodite Hills in particular puts course, hotel and village within a few minutes of each other.
  • A compact, relaxed island — short drives, easy pace, and plenty to do for non-golfers in the group.

The courses you’ll play

Paphos packs an unusual amount of variety into a small area. Aphrodite Hills Golf, PGA National Cyprus is the headline act, a dramatic layout famous for its par-three carry across a ravine, set high above the sea. Minthis Golf Club sits inland on a plateau ringed by mountains and vineyards, a calmer, more contemplative round at altitude. Elea Estate Golf Club brings a Sir Nick Faldo design with rolling, olive-grove character and long sea views. Secret Valley Golf Resort threads through a wooded gorge dotted with limestone rock formations, a memorable contrast to the others. A little along the coast, Limassol Greens rounds out the rotation. We pair the courses to your group's level and appetite.

Where you’ll stay

We hand-pick where you stay around how and where you want to play. At the golf itself, the Aphrodite Hills Hotel by Atlantica and the self-catering Aphrodite Hills Rentals put you inside the resort, course, village square and spa all on the doorstep. Closer to Paphos town and the seafront, the Annabelle Hotel is a long-standing favourite with lush gardens and harbour views, while Constantinou Bros Athena Royal Beach Hotel offers a refined adults-focused beach base. The Leonardo Plaza Cypria Maris Beach Hotel & Spa is another comfortable seafront option with a strong spa. Tell us your priorities and we match the hotel to them.

Best time to play golf in Paphos

Spring and autumn are the sweet spot in Paphos. April to early June brings warm, settled days, wildflowers across the hillsides and courses in fine condition, while September and October offer reliable warmth once the height of summer has passed, our pick for most golfers. High summer (July and August) is hot, so early tee times are the trick if you travel then. Winter (December to February) is mild rather than warm and noticeably quieter; days are cooler and shorter but golf remains very playable, just bring a layer for the morning. Paphos is not a guaranteed winter-sun destination in the way the Canaries or Dubai are, but its shoulder seasons are hard to beat.

A sense of Paphos

History & heritage

Few golf destinations come with this much history underfoot. Paphos is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the archaeological park near the harbour holds the famous Roman mosaics of the Houses of Dionysos and Theseus. Along the coast lie the Tombs of the Kings, monumental rock-cut chambers carved for the city's elite. The town itself is mythologically the birthplace of Aphrodite, with Petra tou Romiou, her legendary rock, a short drive east. Inland, the Troodos villages, monasteries and wineries give a quieter, older Cyprus. It is the kind of place where a rest day fills itself effortlessly.

Food & wine

Cypriot cooking rewards a leisurely table. The signature experience is meze, a long, generous parade of small dishes, grilled halloumi, sheftalia, taramasalata, olives and warm flatbread, best eaten slowly with company. Fresh fish along the Paphos waterfront, slow-cooked kleftiko lamb and souvla over charcoal are local staples. The Paphos hinterland and the Troodos slopes are serious wine country: look for indigenous grapes like Xynisteri and Maratheftiko, and the island's celebrated sweet Commandaria, said to be one of the world's oldest named wines. A village taverna lunch after golf is part of the pleasure here.

Beyond the fairways

There is plenty to fill the non-golf hours, and to keep non-golfing partners happy. Wander Paphos harbour and its medieval castle, explore the mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings, or take the coast road to Aphrodite's Rock for a swim where myth says the goddess emerged. Boat trips run from the harbour to the sea caves and the wild Akamas peninsula, prime walking, snorkelling and turtle-spotting country. Inland, the Troodos mountains offer cool forest trails, frescoed churches and cellar-door wine tasting. Resort spas, notably at Aphrodite Hills and the Leonardo Plaza Cypria Maris, make for an easy afternoon off.

Getting around & exploring

A hire car is the easiest way to make the most of Paphos, the courses are spread between the coast and the hills, and distances are short and roads quiet. Remember that Cyprus drives on the left, a comfortable quirk for UK visitors. If you would rather not drive, we can arrange private transfers between your hotel and each course, which works well for groups who want to relax over lunch. Within the Aphrodite Hills resort, much is walkable or a short buggy ride. Tell us your preference and we will build the logistics around it.

Getting there

Paphos has its own international airport just east of the town, typically around a 15 to 20 minute transfer to most of the coastal hotels and the Aphrodite Hills resort. Larnaca airport, further east, is an alternative with wider route options and roughly a 90-minute drive. Flights are arranged as a separate ATOL-protected add-on to your trip rather than bundled in, so you are free to fly from your preferred airport on your preferred dates; we can take care of the booking, or you can arrange them yourself, whichever you prefer. We will then dovetail your transfers and tee times around the flights you choose.

Good to know

  • Currency and language — Cyprus uses the euro; English is very widely spoken, a legacy of long ties with the UK.
  • Driving — on the left, as in the UK, with short distances between courses.
  • Booking tee times — we pre-arrange your rounds and resort access so everything is confirmed before you travel.
  • What's included — accommodation, green fees and ground arrangements are built into your package; flights are a separate ATOL-protected add-on, never bundled in.
  • Our credentials — we hold ATOL (for flights), PTS and IATA; we are not an ABTA member.
  • How we work — we are a tailor-made operator arranging golf since 1981; every Paphos itinerary is hand-built and hand-priced around you.

Frequently asked questions

Golf holidays in Paphos — answers to the questions our golfers ask most.

Where should I play golf in Cyprus?

PGA Cyprus at Aphrodite Hills is a must and the surrounding golf courses are maturing nicely and are well worth a day out.

Is it easy to get around in Cyprus?

Getting around Cyprus is straightforward, though a hire car is recommended if you want to explore beyond your resort. Most golf holidays are based in Paphos where the main courses — Aphrodite Hills and PGA National Cyprus — are both within 20 minutes. We include private transfers from the airport to your hotel and can arrange inter-course transfers as part of your package. Roads are well maintained, driving is on the left (same as the UK) and signage is in both Greek and English.

Is Cyprus good for families?

Cyprus is an excellent destination for family golf holidays. The island's reliable sunshine, calm clear Mediterranean waters and excellent resort facilities cater well to mixed groups. Aphrodite Hills Resort has a water park, tennis, spa and restaurants, meaning non-golfers and children are genuinely well catered for. The island is safe, English is widely spoken, and the relatively short flight from the UK (4.5 hours) makes it manageable with younger children. Many families extend their stay with beach time in the Paphos or Ayia Napa areas.

Can I cross between North and South Cyprus?

Yes, it is possible to cross between the Republic of Cyprus and Northern Cyprus at designated checkpoints. For golf holidays however, this is rarely relevant — all the main courses including Aphrodite Hills, PGA National Cyprus and Secret Valley are located in the south near Paphos, so you won't need to cross. Cyprus is a compact island and the golf region around Paphos is easily accessible from both Paphos Airport (15 minutes) and Larnaca Airport (90 minutes). We recommend focusing your stay in the Paphos area.

Are flights included?

Our golf holidays are arranged ground-only — hotel, golf and transfers. You can add flights through us, and those flights are ATOL protected as part of your booking.

How do golf holidays with Golf Planet Holidays work?

Every trip is tailor-made. Tell us your group, dates and the destinations you fancy, and we build a personal itinerary — hotel, golf and transfers — around them. There are no fixed packages to squeeze into; we shape the whole break to suit how your group likes to play.
