Travelling on your own to the Costa del Sol is one of the easiest ways in the game to land somewhere new, set your own pace and play the courses you have always fancied without a single arrangement on your shoulders. We sort every transfer and tee booking and hand you an itinerary that simply works, so the only decision left is which club to hit. From
We’ve been arranging golf travel for solo golfers since 1981. The Costa del Sol, and the Sotogrande corner in particular, suits the golfer who shows up alone: relaxed clubhouses, courses minutes apart, and a friendly welcome whether you want a quiet round to yourself or a chat after the eighteenth.
Why the Costa del Sol works so well for solo golfers
Few golf regions on earth pack this much pedigree into a short drive. Base yourself around Sotogrande and you’re inside a triangle of courses that golfers cross continents for, where single golfers are a familiar sight on the tee sheet.
The headline act is Valderrama, the Robert Trent Jones masterpiece that hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup and remains the most demanding, most rewarding test in continental Europe. A few minutes away, Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, the older sibling and one of Spain’s truly classic layouts, rewards placement over power, while Almenara winds through cork oak and umbrella pine with the Rock of Gibraltar on the horizon. Closer to the coast, the reborn La Hacienda Links at Fairmont La Hacienda, Alcaidesa gives you genuine links-style golf beside the Mediterranean, and The San Roque Club offers two championship courses that have hosted European Tour qualifying. That’s a week of golf with no weak link, all within a short transfer of one another.
For a solo traveller this density matters: short hops between courses mean more time on the range, more time at the bar, more chances to fall into conversation with other golfers, and far less time alone in a car.
Where you'll stay, and how the days come together
Your hotel does half the work of making a solo trip feel relaxed, so we choose accommodation where golfers naturally gather. SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort sits at the heart of the action, a design-led resort with a serious spa and courses on the doorstep, ideal if you want the polo-country calm of Sotogrande with somewhere lively to eat in the evening. Prefer a buzzier base? Amare Beach Hotel, Marbella puts you on the seafront in the middle of Marbella’s restaurants and bars, an easy choice for the solo golfer who wants people around after the round.
On the golf itself, most courses here are happy to pair a single player with others on the day if you fancy some company, while on a quieter morning you may get a round to yourself. That part is the course’s call on the day rather than something we would pretend to arrange, but singles are common in Sotogrande and the welcome is easy-going. What we do handle is the rest: the tee bookings, the transfers and the running order, so you never have to chase a single detail from a clubhouse car park.

What's arranged, what's protected, and what it costs
From
Because we’re an enquiry-based specialist, you’ll always speak to a real golfer who has played these courses before anything is confirmed. Every holiday is ATOL protected, and your money is held in trust with PTS until you’ve travelled, so the funds are safeguarded the entire time, not spent the moment you book. That financial protection is the quiet reason solo travellers, in particular, book with us: there’s no one else at home to pick up the pieces, so it matters that the trip is genuinely secured.
For our US golfers, the Costa del Sol is an outstanding-value alternative to a domestic golf week, championship courses at green fees that compare very favourably to comparable American resorts, and a short, well-connected hop from major Spanish gateways. We can arrange flights as an ATOL-protected add-on alongside your package, or build the trip ground-only if you’d rather book your own air. Everything is quoted and billed in GBP, so you see exactly what your trip costs.

Frequently asked questions
Will I have to play every round on my own?
Not unless you want to. Most Costa del Sol courses will pair a single golfer with others on the day to keep the tee sheet moving, so company is easy to find; on quieter mornings you may get a round to yourself. It’s the course’s decision on the day rather than something we arrange, but singles are common around Sotogrande and the welcome is relaxed.
How much does a solo Costa del Sol golf holiday cost?
From
Is my money protected if I book a solo golf holiday?
Yes. Every Golf Planet Holidays trip is ATOL protected, and your money is held in trust with PTS until you have travelled — so your funds are safeguarded for the whole time you’re booked. For solo travellers especially, that financial security is one less thing to think about.
I'm travelling from the US — can you arrange flights?
We can. The Costa del Sol is excellent value versus a domestic US golf week, with championship courses a short, well-connected hop from major Spanish gateways. We’ll add ATOL-protected flights to your package, or build it ground-only if you’d rather book your own air. Everything is billed in GBP.
