The Blairgowrie Golf Club in Perthshire is famous for its rich history and two Championship golf courses. The renowned Rosemount and Lansdowne courses are set in heather-lined avenues of pine and silver birches. There's also a very enjoyable 'Wee' nine hole course.
The Rosemount is a James Braid design influenced by Dr Alistair MacKenzie. It is regarded as one of Scotland's finest inland courses.
The Lansdowne, designed by Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas, is a more challenging test channelled through huge swathes of pine and silver birch trees. On a journey to the north of Scotland it's worth spending a day or two in this area to embrace the fantastic golf here.

Our take
Scotland's finest inland course is a long-running clubhouse argument, and Rosemount is in it every single time.
- Serious golfersA Braid design with MacKenzie's influence in it, and the finish decides everything. More good cards die at the 15th and the 17th than anywhere else on the course.
- SocietiesTwo championship courses and the Wee nine on one site gives every handicap a game, and the ground is so flat that 36 holes on foot is no hardship at all.
- Buddy tripsHeather-lined avenues of pine and silver birch, barely 50 metres of climb all day, and the Lansdowne waiting for round two. Groups settle in here very quickly.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 53 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually south-westerly, averaging 11 km/h, gusting to 45. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 8 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
