GROUND-ONLY TAILOR-MADE · A SHORT HOP FROM DUBLIN

An hour from the airport, the Ryder Cup turf and a true Open links.

Ireland East Coast golf holidays

Walk the same fairways Europe won the Ryder Cup on at The K Club, then drive north to Portmarnock, where the Irish Open has been decided nineteen times on firm seaside links. Carton House and Druids Glen sit a short hop apart, so a four-ball can play parkland on the Tuesday and the wind off the Irish Sea by Thursday. Easy to reach, harder to leave.

Dublin sits at the centre of this stretch of coast, and within a short drive of the city you can play golf attached to some of Ireland's best-known resort hotels. The east coast suits a UK golfer who wants a quick hop across the Irish Sea, a base with a bit of comfort, and golf on the doorstep rather than a long daily transfer.

We have planned tailored golf trips since 1981. For a break here that means we book the hotel, sort the tee times, arrange the transfers and pin down every round, so you turn up and play.

Why play golf in Ireland East Coast

The golf here is tied to the resorts, and two stand out. Portmarnock Golf Links Hotel puts you on a links right on the coast north of Dublin, the sort of seaside ground that rewards a low, controlled ball when the wind gets up. The K Club Hotel is the parkland counterweight, a manicured estate course that has hosted big tournament golf and plays long and serious.

Between those two you get the range that makes the area worth a few days: salt-air links on one side, polished inland parkland on the other, all reachable from the same city base.

The courses you’ll play

The region's data does not list standalone courses, so the golf here runs through the resort hotels themselves. Each of these has its own course on site or at the door:

  • Portmarnock Golf Links Hotel for coastal links golf north of the city.
  • The K Club Hotel for championship parkland on a private estate.
  • Druids Glen Resort Hotel for inland golf set in the Wicklow countryside south of Dublin.
  • Carton House Hotel for parkland golf on a large historic estate in Kildare.

We can build a trip around any one of these as your home course, or split your rounds across a couple of them. Because the venue data here does not give designers or hole counts, we confirm the exact course details and tee times with each property when we put your itinerary together.

Where you’ll stay

Six hotels anchor this region, and they split fairly cleanly by what you want from the stay.

  • Portmarnock Golf Links Hotel (3 nights from £470 (≈ €535) (≈ $615) (≈ CA$875) (≈ AU$885) (≈ NZ$1,075) (≈ CHF 495) pp) and Druids Glen Resort Hotel (3 nights from £510 (≈ €585) (≈ $665) (≈ CA$945) (≈ AU$955) (≈ NZ$1,165) (≈ CHF 535) pp) are the value end if your priority is a golf resort base, one on the coast, one in the Wicklow hills.
  • Jurys Inn Custom House, Dublin Hotel (3 nights from £540 (≈ €615) (≈ $705) (≈ CA$1,005) (≈ AU$1,015) (≈ NZ$1,235) (≈ CHF 575) pp) is the city option for a group that wants Dublin in the evenings and drives out to the golf by day.
  • The K Club Hotel (3 nights from £545 (≈ €625) (≈ $715) (≈ CA$1,015) (≈ AU$1,025) (≈ NZ$1,255) (≈ CHF 575) pp) and Carton House Hotel (3 nights from £750 (≈ €855) (≈ $985) (≈ CA$1,395) (≈ AU$1,405) (≈ NZ$1,725) (≈ CHF 795) pp) are the estate resorts, more space, more on site, and the bigger golf names.
  • Conrad Dublin Hotel (3 nights from £710 (≈ €815) (≈ $935) (≈ CA$1,325) (≈ AU$1,335) (≈ NZ$1,635) (≈ CHF 755) pp) is the upmarket city-centre pick for a stay that leans as much on the city as the course.

Best time to play golf in Ireland East Coast

May to September is the safest window for this part of Ireland. You get the longest daylight, the firmest fairways and the best odds on a dry round, though the east coast can still throw rain and wind at you in any month, so pack for both.

April and October are quieter and often cheaper, with a real trade-off: greens can be soft and the weather is a gamble. Winter golf is playable on the parkland resorts but expect short days and limited links conditions.

Getting there

The simple route is to fly into Dublin, which has frequent connections from across the UK and puts you close to every hotel in this region. From the airport we arrange your transfers to the hotel and out to each course, so you are not driving on the wrong side or sorting car hire after a round.

If you would rather take your own clubs and your own car, the Irish Sea ferries make a self-drive trip workable too. Flights are an ATOL-protected add-on we can book for you; our trips themselves are ground arrangements built around the golf.

Good to know

One honest caveat: this region's venue data lists the resort hotels but not the individual courses, designers or hole counts, so we confirm those specifics, along with tee times and any green-fee details, directly with each property before your trip is finalised. Prices shown are per-person starting points for a 3-night stay and move with season, room type and group size. Tell us your dates and how many rounds you want and we will price it properly.
