After a professional golf circuit career, Nigel Burch enjoys organising golf holidays for our clients. He continues to travel the world, playing top courses with clients whilst putting his extensive knowledge to excellent use.
Here are some of Nigel’s favourite courses and memories of playing in South Africa, hosted on this tour:
Erinvale: “A very good course with some spectacular views of the Helderberg mountains, renowned for its quick bent grass greens and strategic bunkering, this makes a wonderful golfing experience.”
Milnerton: “A links course set on the North shores of Table Bay with spectacular views of Table Mountain, typical links with the helping wind usually going out and a struggle into coming home! I have played in many events here back in the day. A very good course and a good test especially if the South Easter blows!”
Metropolitan: “A canny 14-hole course with 4 double greens played from different tees! Wonderful holes and great views of the city and neighbourhoods, not to mention Table Mountain. I remember playing in a St Patricks Day Pro-Am here and I ended up 4th with lots more ‘Rand’ than I expected!”
Stellenbosch: “In the heart of the Winelands, this beautiful parkland layout has stood the test of time, over 100 years old and is one of the oldest clubs in South Africa. Some great par 3 holes here with the 9th an uphill shot into a green closely guarded by an array of bunkers. I worked at this club for a few years at the turn of this millennium and always boasted that I went past 50 vineyards on the way to work on the R44 road and 49 on the way back!”
